Welcome to the Granary, a comfortable self-catering cottage in the New Forest National Park. Down a leafy forest track, the Granary is in the grounds of a 170 year old forest cottage.
Within the cottage garden there is a separate garden for the exclusive use of Granary guests which has provision for barbecuing and has views across fields. These fields are used by your hosts Jackie and Jim to graze horses but are also occasionally grazed by wild deer.
Parking is alongside the Granary and there is secure storage available for bicycles. The lane leads to a footpath which gives direct access to open forest.
The New Forest has many good places to eat and most welcome dogs. Lymington is a popular visit for visitors with it's world famous yachting centre and Saturday Street Market. New Milton is close by and has many good shops and super markets.

June 13th. we have had a complete range of weather since the season started with some really beautiful days and conversely some wet and windy. Garden still looking beautiful and some of our guests have managed a barbecue or two in the garden reserved for our guests. There is so much to do round here whether walking, cycling or driving around. one of the best ways to see the Forest is to take the tour bus http://www.thenewforesttour.info/new-forest-tour-routes . there is such a choice of restaurants offering excellent food whatever your budget and dieteray wishes.
April 24th. The garden is looking superb with all the plants looking ready to burst. The apple trees have heavy blossom and the cherry tree is an expolsion of pink. The New Forest has been very busy over the Easter weekend but we see or hear nothing here where peace reigns. There is so much to do in this area. a good place to look is www.lymington.com they seem to list just about every event. Sadly our gardener of more than 10 years (Catherine) has retired but we welcome Mark who is keeping us in hand. We are working hard on the grass in the Granary garden as the moles and voles have had a field day this winter.
One of the most frequent comments we hear from our guests is how much they like the peace and quiet of the Granary. Tranquility is very much our way of life and with a lane that goes nowhere there is virtually no traffic noise, just bird song.
St John's Road starts as a conventional road and then becomes a forest lane which was formerly known as Wooton Rough. The Granary is in the grounds of Kinkell Cottage which is about 400 yards down the lane which sees very little traffic making the whole area very peaceful.
The Granary galley kitchen faces east and is flooded with sunshine at breakfast time. The 2 ring Baby Belling has a small oven and grill. There is a microwave. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary equipment.
The Granary has its own furnished garden area with views across the fields where dogs may be walked. The hawthorne is a pictured in the spring. There is a barbecue stand and a comfortable bench seat plus a garden table and chairs for that al-fresco evening meal.
